Moscow expects official statements on Amesbury incident from London not media reports

According to Russia's ambassador to the UK, Moscow got no official statements from the British side

MOSCOW, July 19. /TASS/. Russia is waiting for official information on the Amesbury incident suspects rather than reports in the British media, Russian Ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko said on Thursday.

"Unfortunately, we have no official statements from the British side. We want to hear comments from the Foreign Office," Yakovenko said answering a question on the issue.

"The numerous versions we have seen in the media are not confirmed by statements by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office."

"Every time we see some versions in British newspapers, we ask the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office to confirm whether this is true or not. We have received no reply to most of our inquiries," Yakovenko went on to say. "For me, Scotland Yard’s reports are official statements, so we are waiting for information from the British authorities rather than media outlets, with all due respect to them."

Amesbury incident
On June 30, Dawn Sturgess, 44, and Charles Rowley, 45, were hospitalized in critical condition in the British town of Amesbury, Wiltshire County. Sturgess died in hospital on July 8, while Rowley, who had been in critical condition, regained consciousness and was questioned by the police.

The Metropolitan Police claimed later that the two had been exposed to Novichok, the same nerve agent that was allegedly used in the March attack on former Russian military intelligence (GRU) Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in neighboring Salisbury. Back then, London rushed to accuse Moscow of being behind the attack. Russia has been flatly denying its involvement ever since.
